Mangabey Tracking

Mangabeys are some of the endangered primates that need serious attention. These monkeys are well protected in the Mabira Forest in Central Uganda. If you do love primate safaris, a weekend escape to the east of Buganda will enable you take part in this exciting adventure safari;

Mabira forest in Uganda is the only place where you can go mangabey trekking. Mabira forest is one of the oldest and popular rain forest in Uganda located in south western Uganda in Buikwe district along Lugazi Jinja road covering an area of 300 square kilometers.

A unique specie of the mangabey monkeys can be seen and tracked in Mabira forest, they are grouped into two groups and normally stay in groups of 5-30 individuals.

They have been habituated meaning they are used to human beings and visitors are allowed to trek them just like the gorillas and chimpanzees.

Mangabey trekking can be so adventurous because it is done in central Uganda, less than an hour to reach Mabira forest.
